JAI #216: Thoughts and Prayers and Just Believe

Just Add Ink’s challenge this week was to “Just add watercolor!”  I was in the mood to try something a bit different, so I chose my 1” acrylic block to create my background.  Next I envisioned an orchard on a sunny day and chose my colors accordingly.  Each row was stamped with varying colors:

  • Row 1:  Marina Mist
  •  Row 2:  Marina Mist and Pool Party
  • Row 3:  Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive
  • Row 4:  Old Olive

After inking the block each time, I lightly spritzed water on the ink and then stamped the block onto my Whisper White.  I was intentional in not fully covering my block with ink, so that I’d have some white spaces for a cloud effect.    The tabs to the left of the image were made by running two thin strips through the Arrows EF, then a punched mini circle, topped with a candy dot, nestled into the embossed arrow.  I had fun with this technique and learned in the process.  Next time, I believe I will scoot my inked columns a bit closer together.

  1. Stacey, this is GORGEOUS! I love the watercoloured background you created with your inked blocks, and the way you’ve created the little tabs is just genius. Thanks for playing along with us at Just Add Ink this week

  2. I really love the effect you’ve achieved with the ink block method. Keeping it simply with just the stamped tree was a great choice. THanks for playing along with us at Just Add Ink.

  3. Ohh this is a stunning card and I love the technique you’ve used (I’ll have to try it myself).
A fantastic entry at Just Add Ink for our watercolour challenge!

  5. This is lovely and I like how you didn’t ink up all the acrylic block and how you carried the effect to you greeting borders. Thanks for joining in with our watercolouring challenge this week at Just Add Ink.

    1. Thank you Mae — and thanks too for noticing/mentioning the color carry over to the greeting. I had meant to mention that in my post and then totally forgot to do so!
