My daughter’s birthday was last week; but, our schedules didn’t allow us to get together and celebrate until tonight. When I asked her if there was anything special she’d like for her birthday; she said she really didn’t “need” anything and was just saving her money toward the new puppy she hopes to buy before the end of the year. So, I set to work on creating a cute dog birthday card in which to enclose my contribution toward her new puppy. I used the Retrosketch layout as the basis for her card and incorporated the Paper Players diagonal tic-tac-toe (ribbon, patterned paper, embossing) into the design. The card is fairly straightforward other than the background starburst. I wasn’t happy with any single solid color serving as the matte, so I decided to cut 4 different colored starburst mattes into quarters and then pieced together a four-colored background to correspond with the Birthday Basics DSP. I was quite pleased with the color wheel effect the matte brought to the card.
